The Vegas strip can be like a mirage. Nothing looks far away, but it won’t take much time to realize that getting up and down the Vegas strip is quite a haul. There are ways to avoid costly Vegas cabs and limos, opting instead for much more affordable transportation around Vegas.
Monorail
The Las Vegas Monorail is a great way to travel in air conditioned comfort. A one-way ticket costs $5 or for the month of July you can ride all day for $9. The monorail runs between seven stops including MGM Grand, Caesar’s Palace, the Las Vegas convention center and the Sahara. Children under five ride for free.
Shuttles
Just about every hotel has a shuttle. Many offer service to and from the airport. Inquire about shuttle services when making your reservation. Different hotels may have different options for affordable transportation. Buying a round-trip ticket to and from the airport will also save you a few dollars, rather than buying two one-way tickets.
Strip Trolley
The strip trolley is a safe and affordable way to get around Sin City. Buy a one-time ticket for just $2.50, a day pass (good from 8:30am-5pm) for $4.25 or a night pass (good from 5pm until midnight) for $4.25. The Strip Trolley takes you to all of the “must-see” hotels, downtown Vegas and several sites off the strip including The Hard Rock Hotel, Bass Pro Shop and Terribles Hotel and Casino.
Walking
Lace up your sneakers and get ready to pound the pavement. Seeing the sites of the Vegas strip can require covering a lot of ground. But at least walking is free.
