Dreaming of hopping a jet to a foreign land? Despite increasing airfare costs and gas prices there are still some deals out there when it comes to traveling abroad. Here are a few destinations where your dollar still holds its value and getting there won’t require a bank loan.

Canada

Avoid being charged for the bags you pack and try visiting our neighbors to the north by hopping on a bus or loading up your car. There are some great destinations all over the country including in Nova Scotia where you’ll find a well known lighthouse, Peggy’s Cove or in Ontario which is home to the wonder of Niagara Falls. Check out how far your dollar will go when you head north by using this currency converter.

Mexico

Travel deals are all over Mexico. For especially big bargains, check out all-inclusive resorts. That means food and drink prices are included in the overall cost of the vacation package. Some resorts to review are the Aventura Spa Palace located on the Mayan Riviera or the Playacar Palace Resort nestled on the beaches of Playa Del Carmen. Despite a weakening dollar, your money will still go far when you head south.

Panama

Get the feel of an exotic locale without the jet lag by visiting Panama. Round trip tickets from many US destinations are under $400. For affordable extravagance, cruise the Panama Canal with Norwegian Cruise Lines.  Don’t worry about exchanging money before you go- the dollar is widely accepted there.

Peru

For a rewarding and affordable trip overseas, why not head to Peru for some outdoor adventure and volunteer work. Trips start at just $750 for a two week trip. That includes food, housing, and excursions. Plus you’ll be helping earthquake victims get back on their feet.
