Houston: The Houston Zoo
First on the list is the Houston Zoo. This is a wonderful attraction for kids of all ages. The Bayou Wildlife Park in Alvin Texas is just a short drive away, and features over 80 acres of natural habitat. There is a feeding tram ride, that offers a unique opportunity to experience species of animals from Africa, Australia, North and South America, and many other parts of the world. There is also a petting zoo, alligator ponds and three different monkey islands. Children can help feed elephants, giraffe and zebras.
Houston Space Center
What would a trip to Houston be without a visit to the Houston Space Center? With special presentations, numerous attractions, exhibits, and hands on activities, you will get an unparalleled look not only of our history of the manned space program, but an exciting look into the future of our space program. While you can take a behind the scenes look at this facility, due to security, some areas are off limits to the general public.
There are also many other family oriented attractions, including the planetarium, aquarium and Six Flags Houston, a combination theme, and water park that is open throughout the Summer months.

Houston Museum of Natural History
There are an abundance of museums to see, including the biggest and oldest in the area, the Houston Museum of Natural History. Established in 1909, it has been and continues to be one of the most visited museums in Houston, and the rest of the country. Every exhibit and program is devoted to expanding the knowledge of natural sciences. There are also many other museums to discover, including the Holocaust Museum, and the Houston Children’s Museum, just to name a few.
Houston Astrodome
For sports entertainment, the Houston Astrodome is home to Houston’s premiere sports teams, including the Houston Rockets, the Houston Aeros, and the Astros, just to name a few. You can easily purchase tickets to any number of games online.
You can find an abundance of theaters in the Houston area. The Theater district is the place to go for symphonies, opera, theater and ballet, all in one convenient location, and only one of five places in the United States that has all of these together. There are other theaters as well, including the Miller Outdoor Theater, and Kidz Planet Children’s Theater. You will be able to find any kind of play you are interested in.
Houston Nightlife
The nightlife in Houston is just as spectacular, and it doesn’t matter what lifestyle you prefer, you can find it here. If you want a good place to people watch, then the 6thStreet Bar and Grill has much to offer. It features one of the best people watching decks you can find, and there is still plenty of elbow room. It features over a dozen beers on tap, as well as an extensive selection of wines and hard liquors, and as the name implies, better than average food to whet your appetite.
There is also plenty of adult entertainment venues to choose from. Men’s clubs are not just for guys anymore, and you will find couples and even single women like to frequent some of the higher class establishments, where you get private rooms and VIP treatments. There are a number of these places in the Houston area, including the Diamond Club Cabaret, Centerfolds, and The Men’s Club of Houston.
There are also an assortment of outdoor activities as well, with many parks and open recreational facilities.
